Our name is a simple way to describe who we are

In the beginning of the fifth century AD, supply from the quarries of the Italian peninsula declined sharply. Recycling old building materials became ever more apparent, and architectural stones were often removed from old structures, cut to size, and reused for new construction. During the Late Roman Empire, reprocessing and refinishing stone in palaces, houses of nobility and of worship, was a job exclusively designated to a privileged elite force of highly skilled stone experts, subjected to papal consent. They were known as - the Marmorai.
